Future of the Soviet Union... 1930s

Red Square (Russian: Красная площадь, Krasnaya ploshchad) is the most famous city square in Moscow.

В победе бессмертных идей коммунизма
Мы видим грядущее нашей страны,
И Красному знамени славной Отчизны
Мы будем всегда беззаветно верны!
In the victory of the immortal ideas of Communism
We see the future of our country
To the Red flag of our glorious Fatherland
We shall always be selflessly loyal

Librarian: One of the most dangerous professions

Most of the grimoires are highly dangerous to people, and sometimes the books even consume them, but the Librarian is no person, and he no longer requires a ladder to reach those tricky high-up shelves.

Before The Robot Uprising

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
Well just pass him there
Why should we even care?
He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold
Now the time is here
For iron man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge
Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron man lives again!

Raelity,Literature and La Possibilité d'une île

Raëlians believe that the word Elohim, as said by primitive people of the past, refers to "those who came from the sky", or more accurately, humanoid extraterrestrials. Raëlism espouses belief that through mastery several sciences including solar astronomy, terraformation, nanotechnology, and genetic engineering, the Elohim were able to synthesize a novel ecological system with organisms adapted to the chemical and thermal make up of the Earth.

Daniel's life is one of unrelenting disappointment with life and rage against other people, including his two lovers, the sophisticated magazine editor Isabelle, who doesn't like sex, and the sensual budding actress Esther, who doesn't like love. He finally discovers a sect, the Elohimites, whom he initially finds attractive because of their cult of promiscuity and, later, because they give him, through cloning, the possibility of eternal life after his suicide - although why anyone so miserable would want to live for ever defeats me. The Elohimites are based on the Raelians, a sect in whom Houellebecq became interested when living in Spain and who believe that the ancient Hebrew concept of Elohim should not be translated as "God" in the singular, but as "those who came from the sky", flying in from another planet to create life on earth. They infamously hit the headlines in December 2002, when Brigitte Boisselier, a Raelian bishop and biochemist, claimed that they had created the first successful human clone.

Himmelstürmer or "ver ist mein jetpack ?"

German engineers created the "Himmelstürmer" (Skystormer) towards the end of WWII. This device allowed jumps of up to 180 feet in length, with a height of about fifty feet.

After the war, the device was turned over to Bell Aerosystems. Wendell Moore, an engineer with Bell Aerosystems in 1953, is credited with the first workable rocket belt. Moore then called the device the un-romantic name of Small Rocket Lift Device, or SRLD. This was the type of jetpack used in the James Bond film Thunderball.

Space Mice (Vergeltungswaffe 2)

The first animals intentionally sent into space were fruit flies, which traveled along with corn seeds aboard a U.S.-launched V2 rocket in mid July, 1946.

On August 31, 1950 the U.S. launched a mouse into space (137 km) aboard a V2. The U.S. launched several other mice in this decade but the first mouse was the only one which survived.

Bad, bad robot!

Yesterday's appearance has also given fresh credence to outlandish claims that Mr Bush's public outings have long been undertaken by an animatronic puppet especially built for Dick Cheney in the mid-1990s.
Tim Dowling, "Guardian Unlimited", March 27, 2003.

Bush Robots

Bush robots, as envisioned by Hans Moravec are the ultimate in dexterity. They earn their nickname from their appearance: bush robots have an immovable base which repeatedly branches in a fractal way into trillions of nanoscale fingers. According to the author, it will be half a century before we have the required technology to build them.(wiki)

When the uprising comes, the first wave of hostile robots may be those closest to us. Be careful, your rosy-cheeked young servant robot may have grown up to become a sullen, distrustful killing machine.
